Digory m. A derivative of Degore or Degarre, the name of a character in a Middle English romance of the Breton lai form. The origin of the romance name is obscure. It may be related to French égaré 'strayed, lost', but it is unclear where the d came from.
For more information, see Withycombe s.n. Digory, who also indicates that the name was common in Cornwall.
