Eude m. Proto-Germanic *Eutaz, the name of a Germanic people known as the "Jutes"; the word is of uncertain origin but is perhaps related to Proto-Germanic *Gautaz 'Geat, Gauth'.

Cf. Gauzo for the name descending from the related word. The name is sometimes confused with Otto.
