Soave f. Either Italian soave 'sweet, delicate; gentle; soft', from Latin suavis 'agreeable, pleasant, gratifying, sweet; charming, attractive' or a derivative from Suebi, the tribal name of a group of Germanic people first mentioned by Julius Caeser.

Compare with French Dulce and Dutch Zoete.
