Paris m. Either Ancient Greek Πάρις, a Hellenization of an unidentified Luwian name of uncertain origin, probably related to the Hittite name Pari-zitis, or a derivative of Latin Parisii, the name of a Gallic tribe living around the river Seine who gave their name to the city Paris.
