Digory m. A derivative of Degore or Degarre, the name of a character in a Middle English romance of the Breton lai form. The origin of the name is obscure, but may be related to French égaré 'strayed, lost'; but it is unclear where the d came from.

For more information, see Withycombe s.n. Digory, who also indicates that the name was common in Cornwall.
