Ponce m. Latin Pontius, the name of a Roman gens, used by the Samnites, an Italic tribe. The gens name may derive from the region Pontus on the shores of the Black Sea.

The name of a Roman prefect of Judea who presided over the trial of Jesus, a 3rd C Carthaginian saint, and a 12th C Spanish saint.
